Awesome people Amazing stories!

This past 2 mths God has been bringing us to places out of Metro Manila; we have met with many great men and women of God, and have heard many amazing life stories. Hope their stories will inspire you just as much as how it has inspired us.

Praise God for letting us know Ps Jonaver Luklukan!

Jonaver Luklukan used to be a very famous secular singer in Philippines. Now he is still very famous and well known but all glory goes to the Lord. He is now a full-time pastor and Gospel singer travelling around Philippines and many other countries to minister to people and win souls for Jesus. The Praise and Worship songs he wrote are very popular in many Philippines churches.

Ps Jonaver Luklukan’s encounter with the Lord is one of the most amazing story I have heard, in fact it is so amazing that his life story is being filmed by a very big local TV network and played in Philippines and other countries.

In short, he came from a very poor family with many family issues. He was sexually abused by his uncle from young with no one to turn to. But he is gifted with a very good voice so he joined a very big singing competition in Philippines (something like the American idol, but Philippines version) and won the competition. Soon he became popular but deep down he is still very unhappy; leading a sinful life - selling his body for opportunities and money in order to support his entire family. He was leading a double life back then, attending a church and sang for the Lord but with little breakthrough in his sinful habits.

However, the more he grows in the Lord the more he wanted to stop his lifestyle, he even told his family that he needed to stop everything he was doing, but the family begged him to continue in order to support them all. Eventually his mom and dad was caught for selling drugs and put in jail, since that day onwards Jonaver was having nightmares; knowing that if he kept going the path he was heading he will end up the same as his parents.

So he had enough, and he finally repents before the Lord, surrendering all to Him. He asked the Lord to change him. And day by day the Lord helped him through many amazing ways. Now he is happily married with 3 kids and serving the Lord full time witnessing for the Lord. Through his testimony many people are being touched and they too find hope in God. (Even his parents are saved and are being released from jail even with a life sentence in a very miraculous way! Praise God)

If u want to know more, please check out the short movie about his life story thu this link: http://www.novoecijano.biz/2011/04/gma-tanikala-wasak-true-to-life-story.html (it is in Tagalog, but I think you will be able to understand with the help fr my little summary)

We met a few Korean missionary in Mt. Sinai Calvary church, they are really our role model in the mission field. Ps Yeol (the senior Pastor) and his wife are here in the Philippines for about 20 years! They planted many churches(maybe close to 30) in many regions in Philippines, including the 8 churches around Dapdap, Tarlac (2 hours from Manila city) and Mt. Sinai Calvary church is the mother church with a seating capacity of 800. The church has a Bible College too, training many pastors for ministry. We were invited to share the word in their 9th anniversary! The people are really responsive to God's word.

Praise God for such faithful men and women of God, they gave up their comfortable life in Korea and lead a very simple life here in Philippines, all their 3 kids were born here and the kids speaks Tagalog more fluently than korean! Even though they have a very big ministry in Philippines but they are really humble, what an example to young missionaries like us.

Praise and Worship

There are many performance on that day! This is just one out of the many

This dance is really amazing! It is done by the senior women ministry (they are in their 60s to 80s but still dancing for the Lord!) So let us not say we are too old to dance for the Lord hehe...

Cool! - Church Zone. Ministering in one of the town near San Juan in Philippines (3 hours drive away from Manila) this town is famous for its Buko (coconut) pie.

We met Ps Roy and his family, this drummer is his youngest son, very amazing little drummer! Ps Roy used to be an Electrical Engineer (like me and Alvin) but he gave up his profession and serve God full time as a Pastor. He told God he will go anywhere God told him to go, little did he know that God told him to return to his own hometown to set up a church there. Even though he knew that a prophet is without honor in his own hometown he still obeyed the Lord...

This church is building their own church building and this Sun is their pledge Sun. Alvin encouraging the church to give to the Lord.

3 milestones

It has been a while since our last update.... some friends were asking us what we been up to lately. We are doing great! Just been very busy with 3 big milestones for our mission work here in Philippines.

1st milestone: We formed an official organisation named Ambassadors For Jesus Christ (AFJC). We are registered with Securities and Exchange Commission in Philippines and is now an official non-stock, non-profit organisation. We hope through this ministry we can better facilitate in sharing Christ's love and gospel to the world.

It is very gratifying to know that many people we know have a good heart for the poor and needy and have been wanting to donate to our work here. But our conviction is that it is not proper for them to donate to our personal account for finanical accountability sake. We rather people sending money to the organization.

And also with a proper organisation, we can do even more for the Lord with more doors opened and opportunities to serve. There might also be a possibility to future Goverment grants or aids in supporting this organization.

2nd milestone: We wrote a Trainer and Student manual to be used in Evangelism Training seminars. God spoke to us to start training members in local churches to do evangelism. Friendship evangelism is one of the effective ways in Philippines yet not many members in the churches were being taught, trained and inspired to do it. With Evangelism Training Seminars (ETS) we are able to equip Christians to do their part in evangelism. More details on ETS can be found in our website :)

Printing the Student Manual booklet, ready by next Wed :)

3rd Milestone: Is AFJC website. It will be posted online by 2-3 weeks from now , please check it out. You can know more about AFJC, the work here and how you can partner with this mission.

Other updates:

AFJC is doing Hospital Ministry twice per week. This is Pastor Ken; our co-worker in this ministry, his church is just walking distance from one of the hopsitals we are ministering to.

AFJC is doing weekly Prision ministry too
